Court Support Programme
Mosaic offers a support service to the Department of Justice. People who visit our offices at the court may expect the following services:

  • Crisis counseling
  • Education and information on domestic violence and abuse
  • Court Processes and Procedures
    • Assistance with the completion of Application forms for Protection Orders
      • Protection Order: A protection order tells your abuser to stop abusing you as stated in your application. It may order the police to remove any dangerous weapon from your abuser. It may order the abuser out of the house and limit contact with you or the children. A police officer can go with you to collect your belongings if you are scared. The Order may force the abuser to help you with money to survive.
      • With your Protection Order, you receive a Warrant of Arrest. If the abuser fails to comply with the Protection Order, you may call the police, who have to arrest the abuser, on receiving the Warrant of Arrest. The abuser stays in jail until going to court.
      • How can you get a protection order?
You have a right to lay a charge at your police station.
Go to a doctor/clinic if you were hurt and ask for a J-88 report.
Go to the Domestic Violence section of the court closest to where you or your abuser lives or works.
      • Contact Mosaic for personal assistance and a copy of our booklet that gives much more detail and information for example.
    • Assistance with the writing of affidavits for the traumatized applicants
  • Referrals to other service providers, as needed
  • Information on Sexual and Reproductive Health, HIV, and where to access these services
  • Legal and human rights education
  • Working with offenders
  • Research on DVA implementation
